VPG-DVD-124 - DUBAI Dubai is a fairy-tale holiday paradise with romantic desert scenery and a long history. Like an ancient kingdom from the 'One Thousand And One Nights' it's the second largest state in the United Arab Emirates located on the northern coast of the Arabian Peninsula. The trading of dates, goats, pearls and fish brought the city much prosperity and it gradually developed into the largest trading centre in the Near East. Maritime life has always played a significant role in the lives of those who live on the Arabian Gulf. With its triangular sails and a design that has remained unchanged for thousands of years, the dhow still sails these waters. Hundreds of them lie at anchor close to the old town on the banks of Dubai Creek. No other city in the United Arab Emirates possesses so many fascinating contrasts. But the past is gradually merging with the present and portrays a new and harmonious image. Dubai's impressive silhouette is in stark contrast to the desert sand and sparkling sea. The Deira district owes its prosperity to the various souks that were established there in the 19th century. At this time Dubai was already an important trading city with almost seven thousand inhabitants. The number of stalls in the souk rose to more than three hundred and a modest tax was imposed for the coffers of the local Sheikh. Amid the desert surroundings in front of the city gates is the Nad Al Sheba Camel Course where the intrepid creatures of the desert are trained during the winter months, the jockeys being young boys from Somalia and Pakistan. Dusty gravel roads lead into the Hajar Mountains, part of the splendid mountain landscape in the eastern section of the Emirates. Dubai's skyline has a new landmark, the Burj Al Arab, the only hotel in the world to have been awarded no less than seven stars! Built on a Man made island its design is that of a sail bent by the wind. Dubai: the height of luxury amid the desert sand - a glittering fairytale of the 21st century.

Steamin' Floaters Pt. 2 (WATCH PART 1 FIRST!)Unfortunately, YouTube limits the duration of videos to 10 minutes each. This edit was originally done with a 15-minute limit in mind, for FaceBook. It was already a tight squeeze so I had to butcher it even more to fit it into YouTube. Some facts about this second part...Richard didn't in fact destroy the sails. A rope snapped due to the extremes we pushed the boat to... Yeah, right!...and after a little monkey-climbing from Glenda, all was dandy and sailworthy again.Oh, and Glenda is actually a bloke!Enjoy!

GTR-DVD-1110 - An architectural and historical gem lies hidden in the Mesa Verde National Park in the State of Colorado in the United States Of America. The dwellings that were built into the cliffs by the Anasazi Indians have given this place the name of, Cliff Palace. They were discovered in1888 by two cowboys who must have been amazed when they stumbled across these ancient and magnificent structures. During the 6th century the Anasazi settled on the Mesa Verde Plateau where they lived in caves and simple wooden shelters. They began by building their dwellings from loam bricks until, in the latter part of the 12th century, they created their cliff dwellings. The amazing dwellings amounted to entire villages located in the cliffs. The technical building abilities of the Anasazi Indians, although simple, were remarkable because although the buildings were constructed with sun-dried loam bricks and extremely primitive tools, they were able to build multi-storey buildings and small towers. Nearly 800 years have passed since the sudden and inexplicable disappearance and emigration of the Anasazi. Thankfully, their fascinating Cliff Palace dwellings in the Mesa Verde National Park have managed to survive the centuries. EXT-DVD-18 - WILD WEST RODEO Brave men on the back of strong bulls in the world of rodeo where cowboys and the Wild West continue to thrive in a spectacular way: in the U.S. federal state of Wyoming this colourful tradition is held in high esteem. The small town of Cody has eight thousand inhabitants and not only has Buffalo Bill's family name but was also founded by him in 1896. Around two kilometres from Cody is another attraction, Old Trail Town whose twenty six timber buildings and log cabins form a splendid and atmospheric museum. One of the most interesting buildings is Curly's Cabin. Curly was an Indian scout who served under General Custer and managed to survive the Battle Of The Little Big Horn. Although Cody's main source of income is tourism due to Yellowstone Park, the Buffalo Bill Stampede Rodeo and the arena that was built especially for this event also help the local economy and each evening from the beginning of June until the end of August rodeo performances take place in Stampede Park. Today's rodeo keeps up the old traditions of the USA's pioneering times in spectacular fashion and entertains onlookers with the thrill of various exciting events and the atmosphere of times long gone.

7DY-DVD-164 - Cheyenne is Wyoming's most populated city. When the railroad was constructed in 1860 this "hell-like settlement at end of the railroad" became an important trading centre. For what was to become the federal government, the State Capitol was built and with its golden dome and Corinthian columns it is similar to its larger counterpart in Washington. In the middle of the eighteenth century French scouts were the first to penetrate this region that was then inhabited by the Arapaho and Shoshone Indians. The cowboys and farmers of the Old West needed to spend their hard earned money and Cheyenne profited accordingly and a profusion of hotels, saloons and warehouses suddenly appeared. The Badlands was given its name by the Native Indians due to the inhospitable terrain as they felt threatened by it. Thirty seven million years of wind, rain and snow transformed this highland into a natural work of art that was inaugurated as a national park in 1978. Set within the Black Hills in the state of South Dakota is one of the most famous landmarks in the United States, the Mount Rushmore National Memorial where four monumental portraits of the most famous American presidents have been carved into the granite and symbolize a kind of spectacular tribute to democracy. Twenty five kilometres south west of Mount Rushmore another stone image towers up from the landscape, the Crazy Horse Memorial. Constructed in 1947 it commemorates the famous chief of the Oglala Sioux and its dimensions are even larger than those of Mount Rushmore. As in former times, the routes of the first pioneers still bring visitors into the far west through overwhelming mountain scenery with grandiose views, Wild West towns, buffalo prairies and vast ranches. Make no mistake about it, America's Wild West is still wild: a place of natural spectacles and nostalgic adventure!

7DY-DVD-105 - Arizona, land of cowboys and Indians and Wild West towns plus, among its many natural wonders, the all pervasive colour red as displayed by the awe-inspiring rock formations of its mighty canyons. A thousand years ago the highly-cultured Anasazi and Hohokam Indians lived here, planting maize and vegetables in the meagre valleys and building walled towns into the cliffs of the canyons. They used the natural environment, protected caves in natural rock walls, which were accessible only by simple wooden ladders. For the past century, scientists from all over the world have investigated evidence that a gigantic meteorite crashed here, leaving behind it a huge crater: Meteor Crater. As the central and inner walls of the crater are similar to the landscape of the moon, preparation and training for the APOLLO space missions took place here. Located in North West Arizona is the 378 square kilometre National Park known as the 'Petrified Forest' with a surrounding desert which shimmers in all the colours of the rainbow. There's the Agate Bridge, a huge fossilised tree trunk which spans twelve metres wide across a gorge and the amazingly beautiful Canyon De Chelly. Situated in the Navajo Indian Reservation, the Betatakin Ruins are the remains of historical dwellings which were carved into the rock by their original inhabitants from the 13th Century B.C.Wild West fans instantly recognise Monument Valley where, between colossal, 300 metre tall monoliths and sky-high rocky needles, John Wayne and countless other screen heroes fought off Indians and battled with 'baddies'. A natural sculpture formed from undulating waves of stone, Antelope Canyon is a palette of colour which teases the eye. From the surface, a gaping crevice is the only means of access, tempting the curious to enter. In bold contrast, the Grand Canyon is 1,600 metres deep and 16 kilometres long, the most colossal gorge in the world. The sight of this gigantic natural wonder is the exciting climax of any trip to the magnificent and majestic land of Arizona.
