VPG-DVD-154 - JALISCO Jalisco is a Mexican Federal State that has two special attributes, its folklore and a drink that's known all over the world, tequila! With 1.7 million inhabitants Guadalajara is Mexico's second largest city. The Plaza De Amras contains some fine decorative ironwork and a circular stage for music events. The city is home to Mexican rodeos and also the broad-brimmed sombrero. It is also believed to be the birthplace of the world famous mariachi music. After breaking with Spain, Guadalajara became the capital of Jalisco. At the beginning of the 20th century it was the second largest city of the new Republic. The city successfully unites its centuries old history with modern times and today is considered to be a perfect example of both modern and traditional Mexico. The Lago De Chapala is Mexico's largest lake and its three thousand kilometre shoreline is extremely beautiful and boasts several large sandy beaches. Located some sixty kilometres from Guadalajara it is also a natural paradise for a variety of waterfowl. Music can heard throughout Mexico and since the 19th century the country's mariachi bands have performed at festivals, wedding ceremonies and indeed almost anywhere that involves fun and celebration. For four hundred years the people in this 'Land Of Tequila' have existed from the juice of the Blue Agaves. In the past tequila was considered to be nothing more than cheap fire-water but today it has become a popular drink throughout the world. Jalisco is a country bursting with tradition, beauty and, of course, tequila!

TVI-DVD-ROM - Roma The Eternal CityAll ways lead to Rome as people used to say, many years before Christ. The modern metropolis has become used to the flood of tourists and pilgrims from all over the world. Our mosaic starts at Piazza Venezia with its marble monument to king Emanuel II called the "Wedding cake". The Forum, Palatine, Aventine, Capitol form together with the Coliseum the core of the ancient city. The baroque period is represented by Piazza Navona and Fontana di Trevi. We will visit St Peter's basilica and the Vatican museums and the most beautiful churches too, like San Giovanni in Laterano and Santa Maria Maggiore. Rome is the only city hosting an entire sovereign state-the Vatican. Castel Sant' Angelo, Janiculum hill and the ancient quarter of Trastevere are our next stops. Pantheon, Piazza del Popolo, the famous Spanish steps and many other city seclusions form a mixture one cannot see elsewhere. The everlasting city had its own water supply system as early as in 2nd BC;feeding also the giant Baths of Caracalla. Finally the Via Appia Antica will lead us to the catacombs and to the ancient port of Ostia. All this is Rome.

TOM-DVD-TWO - Bangkok Bound Bangkok Bound Volume 2This episode follows two very different stories. Angela and John are going to Thailand to attend their daughter Emma's wedding. But for them it is a bittersweet experience - the last time they were there was for the funeral of their other daughter, Karen who died of anorexia. She was in a coma and her parents had to make the heart breaking decision to switch off her life support machine. "It would have been nicer to visit Thailand with both our daughters. But that didn't happen."Gavin is a married, middle-aged and in every respect a typical British husband. He's on his way to visit his 27 year old Thai boyfriend, LEK. His wife knows about their relationship and although she doesn't quite approve, they seemed to have reached some kind of accommodation with Gavin's unusual lifestyle. "We have an open marriage. She has learnt to accept my sexual interest in my Thai men friends. After 40 years we're still together which is more than most people can say." Thailand is a magnet for travellers. Every week 10,000 people travel from Britain to Bangkok - the gateway to Thailand. The country's beautiful tropical beaches are contrasted with a dark underbelly of sex trade and prostitution. This new six part series takes a closer look at the personal stories behind these journeys to reveal some startling and at times truly remarkable experiences.
